Alright. There’s not much I will say about this, you just have to watch the video. In short, the organisation Terre Des Hommes that fights child exploitation, created a robot that looks like a 10 year old child. This robot, called Sweetie, is operated from Amsterdam and once online engages in chats with pedophiles. Apparently when you go online on popular chat services with the profile of a 10 year old Philippine you attract these sex offenders within seconds so that’s what Sweetie’s for. And since they all ask to put on the webcam, Sweetie activates that webcam without any hesitation… and while the conversation lasts, the specialists in Amsterdam get photo & video evidence of the offenders and they try to find all information that helps identify these men. And it works: 1.000 pedophiles identified in merely 2 months. I don’t say this often but this is just amazing! Watch. And don’t forget to sign the petition.
I have seen this little ad about 3-4 times now and I agree. It’s cute and quite funny actually. I think the guys/girls of Samsung Mobile did a quite good job on this one. Like.
Also check out the website that goes with it: http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/
Maybe the Windows Phone 7 team should take a look at this as well. I would really love to give the new WP7 a swing once it’s released to market, but it’s not their ads that made me want it. Really not.
Let’s say you never had the time to watch any of the videos that your friends sent you by email or on Facebook, well I’ll spare you some time, you can now watch them all at once… kinda. And like my friend Kevin says, if you did watch them all… think about the all the time you’ve wasted :)

Before we go any further I need to ask you to take a look at the video below. This is the clip of an audition during the television program ‘So You Think You can Dance’ in Belgium. Never mind the language, just look…
Meet Leon. I suppose you noted the consternation of the jury not only when they saw a 64-year old doing an audition in what is basically a program targeted at youngsters, especially when they saw Leon end his audition with a split. The best of all this? Leon was actually entered into the competition by Milk (VLAM) as a part of the campaign they’re running to show that drinking milk on a daily basis will help you to stay fit and flexible.
Obviously nobody knew about Leon being part of an ad campaign until we (Duval Guillaume) revealed it after the show was aired on television. This was one of the first campaigns where I was part of the team that developed it so it was especially great for me to see the outcome of it.
To get the full picture of the campaign you should also take a look at the video below, this shows the initial commercial that was created for Milk a while ago and which has been on air earlier this year. The idea of doing something special with ‘So You Think You can Dance’ seemed a logical follow up on this ;)
I hope you like it, I know I do :)
Just loving this one for Mini, superb! Nice take on ‘viral videos’ :)
New job, new laptop. After a few weeks of comparing, reading reviews online, watching viral videos (about laptops of course), buying laptop magazines at airports, etc… I finally decided what to get 2 weeks ago what to get and using it since today. Since I’m traveling quite a bit and spending more time away from a desk than on my desk there were a few key features the new laptop needed to have – in short I wanted a powerful lightweight ultraportable with long battery life. I had my mind made up on the Dell XPS M1330 for a while since it got some good reviews but finally decided for this:
Main reason for picking the Dell would have been the price tag, which is more interesting compared to the Lenovo X300 but overall performance and former Lenovo experience made me choose the X300 eventually. And no, I didn’t take the lame Dell-Manila-Envelope ad into account :) Truth to be told, in case I had to pay for it myself, it would have been the Dell XPS M1330 without a doubt.
So now it’s all installed, it’s indeed incredibly lightweight, the main battery gives me +3 hours of juice (and ordered an extra battery which should double that) and last but not least with it’s 4Gb or RAM it’s ultrafast :) Here’s what I installed, programs I need to have on my PC (it runs Windows Vista):
- Office 2007
- Windows Live beta (Full suite – see earlier post)
- Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 and Firefox 3
- Twhirl (and thus also AIR)
- Live Mesh
- Silverlight 2
Yeah, I’m a PC. And I’m actually married to a Mac so probably our kids will turn out to be hybrids I guess (although more chance to see them turn into Xboxes or something)… Let’s not go there :)
Like I needed more convincing to go and buy the Samsung Omnia right? Even though this video is created by Samsung, it is a refreshing approach to unboxing gadgets like we see so many times on the tech blogs. Job well done! Now tell me when and where I can get it, curious to see if it matches up to the Diamond.
So you always wondered how a screensaver was made? Take a look at the video below to get an idea of that process. Enjoy.
“Life’s too short for the wrong job”. The German jobsite Jobsintown.de did some great advertising around this theme in the past and I must say I really like this video as well. It looks like the video is from the same period as the other ads, but I hadn’t seen it before.
