I’m not a big fan in general of comparative advertising because I find that brands should focus on their own strengths and not on other brand’s weakness or whatever. But sometimes it’s done in such a fine way that I do like it, like in this example for Fedex for instance. I thought that was really original and good.

Great ad! It would be even better if DHL was in there too :)
Ha! That is pretty funny.
I wonder what really motivates anyone to choose one over the other, though. To me, it’s reliability, convenience, location, and price, and probably in that order when I need something shipped overnight or second day.
I couldn’t care less about the comparative size of FedEx trucks.
I just care that when the UPS or FedEx guy shows up at my doorstep and delivers the package on time and in good shape.
FedEx is way better!
The guys that work on the truck are much more friendlier.
Another neat tidbit, is that if you look at the space between the ‘E’ and ‘x’ on the FedEx logo, the space between the two letters looks like an arrow. A right arrow.
Pretty cool, eh?
@ Michael:
Hey, I didn’t notice! That is pretty cool indeed.
@Cam: I wouldn’t say this is about the size of the trucks, this is about suggesting that Fedex is being used by UPS to make sure deliveries are on time. I found it quite smart.
