Om Malik reports on a new shopping site called Browsegoods which should “trump their competitors”. The beta is live with shoes only for the moment, but I’m actually looking for some new shoes so I really am a potential customer here. And you know what, browsing is just fine and fast but finding what you want is something else. If you’re not looking for a specific brand or a type of shoe (like for sporting) where do you go? And also, you don’t have to click the ‘next’ button like with the classic experience but I found it still took quite some clicks to zoom in on an item.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited by these new types of online shopping but don’t feel like this is good enough yet either. Make it easier to find at least one item I like, and then add some Pixsta to it so I can browse more naturally between similar goods.
Kris, We have 4 categories up now on browsegoods, so you can also shop for toys, sports equipment or watches. You can also now search to find that one item to start your exploration.
@Neil: Have you been inspired by Jim Bumgardner’s Coverpop?

@Neil: thanks for the update. I don’t see yet how one item can start my exploration, so I still find it hard to find what I really want. But again, as I said, I love the direction it’s going, it definitely beats using a keyword to find the right shoe for instance.
