That year, I used to pay round 60 euros for a dial up internet connection (communications were on top) and RAM used to be unpayable!

Same here. That modem screech and (long time ago) the sound the tape recorder made when loading a program onto my ZX Spectrum … kinda annoying but never to forget :)
